Lot Overview

硯箱木胎髹漆製成,呈圓角長方形,分蓋與盒身,子母口緊密相合。蓋面施以雕漆技法,菱格紋錦地,前景雕閻王,濃眉寬鼻,怒目咧嘴,虯髯,頭戴官帽,身著華美官服,右手執筆,左手持笏,端坐交椅,前方木桌上置有一方硯台。後方炙熱陽光中地藏菩薩立於蓮花上,下方祥雲承托,氣氛莊嚴祥和。整體構圖飽滿,雕刻細密,蓋面及盒身側壁髹朱漆,漆色沉穩飽滿,散發典雅美韻。器內及底髹黑漆,漆色黝黑光亮,盒內有一方硯台與銀製硯滴。
 
拔苦與樂一詞,出自《大智度論》:「大慈與一切眾生樂,大悲拔一切眾生苦。」指佛菩薩拔除眾生之苦而給與福樂之願力。由於地藏菩薩具廣大無邊的大慈大悲,祂的慈,能與樂;悲,能拔苦,救拔一切的罪苦眾生。在日本,普遍認為地藏菩薩與閻羅為同一尊神祇的不同化現。本品以這兩尊神祇為表現主題,宣說地藏菩薩地獄拔苦與樂的彌堅悲願,利益六道眾生。整器雕琢細膩,紋飾層次分明,在錦地襯托下,使漆層具浮雕效果,極富立體感,是件結合雕刻與髹漆的細緻工藝佳作。
 
中國漆藝的剔紅技法,傳入日本成為「堆朱」工藝,又取中國元代雕漆名家張成和楊茂二人名字的各一字,為「楊成」。《日本國志》:「江戶有楊成者,世以善雕漆隸於官。據稱其家法,得白元之張成、楊茂。」本品之作者為二十代堆朱楊成,其本名豊五郎長昭(1880 - 1952年),為第十八代堆朱楊成次子。師從佐竹榮子習畫、師從石川光明學雕刻。明治二十九年,繼承二十代堆朱楊成之名。曾任帝天展、文天展、日展評審。
