Another piece from the collection of Anthony Du Boulay, A RARE AND FINE WHITE-GROUND GREENDECORATED 'DRAGON' BOWL, MARK AND PERIOD OF ZHENGDE, was from a private collection of Hong Kong, Christie's London Autumn Auction 1983, London Bonhams Autumn Auction 2003, London Sotheby's Spring Auction 2013, and was exhibited and published in Porcelain for Emperors in 2003. The outer wall is darkly engraved with seawater wave patterns under the glaze, and the green double dragon pattern is decorated in between, forming the artistic effect of the green dragon coming out of the water, which belongs to the classic category of imperial porcelain in the Zhengde period.
Another lot, AN EXCEPTIONAL AND RARE LARGE BLUE AND WHITE FIVE-PIECE ALTAR GARNITURE (WUGONG), QING DYNASTY, DAOGUANG PERIOD, is from the collection of Richard S. Timewell, former director of Sotheby's, with “Shou Ming Si” mark, would have been placed in the center of the main hall of the temple for worship. The set has clear provenance and has great historical and religious value.
Originally from the old collection of the Cathay Museum, it once appeared in Yu Jen Taipei’s "Cathay Museum / Qingfeng Bank Auction" in 2010, A SUPERB AND RARE LARGE LIMESTONE HEAD OF SAKYAMUNI, TANG DYNASTY, is large and magnificent, with its solemn expression, fully reflecting the classical spirits of the statues made in the Tang Dynasty.
The autumn auction also exclusively presents a Japanese art collection by Mr. Sung pei-an, an important collector in Asia, including metalwork, lacquer, carving, ceramics, ginbari and other categories. The works are by Japanese imperial craftsmen or famous masters at that time. Several rare articulated sculpture works were presented at Christie's Hong Kong in 2018, revealing the delicate craftsmanship and aesthetic of the Japanese masters.
